A little over four years ago, a group of animal-lovers saw the need to provide resources in our community to help owners keep their pets when they fell on hard times. We were seeing owners having to either surrender their pet to a rescue or put their pet down if they could no longer afford to keep it. Reasons we encountered varied from economical issues, like losing a job or home, to accidents where pets needed medical care and the owners had no means to pay the bill.
Our group of volunteers started doing fundraisers in order to help both owners and pets in the community. We have done various events such as dog washes, microchip and vaccination clinics, bake sales, auctions and raffles. All proceeds then go to purchase services such as vetting, dog training and boarding as well as crates, dog houses, fencing, food, flea/tick meds and anything else dog/cat/bunny related.
We became involved with a small rescue in Delmont, SD called ET Farms, run by a rescuer named Teresa Richardson. Teresa takes in owner surrenders, strays, and any dog or puppy left on her doorstep. We have a foster base set up and help her get as many dogs adopted as we can.
This past year we were extremely busy during kitten season and helped house and take care of double digit stray moms and their babies. We also work with the feral cat community with spay/neuter trap and release programs.
Thank you for allowing us to share what we do with you and thank you for participating in our event today. Your generosity makes it possible for us to help the many families and pets in need. If anyone is interested in learning more about what we do, please let any one of us know. We are very passionate about what we do and have many amazing success stories to share with you.
